That's a great point in favour of a final say on what the proposal actually looks like, of course.

It is very difficult to make a convincing case to damage the country on the say-so of a third of the electorate. The other two thirds may have very definite views; hence the self-evident problems, and unforeseen and unintended consequences.

crap, just like an auction, only there was a six week spiel and time for questions, the bidding started at 6? am and went on till 10pm then the hammer went down
decision taken, no second guessing, everybody was given the same crap info and made their own mind up, hardly a soul in the land believes politicians sleep straight let alone talk straight and still brexit won, so either shut up or go forth and multiply i would suggest scotland, you would fit right in

Plenty of that age aren't allowed to get the coos in 5 minutes early without permission.!!! Makes my blood boil
Why?

It is their call - there are no cases of farm children being kept as prisoners at home against their will. They can leave any time they like.

A dispassionate observer would say that the children stay because they wish to inherit the farm, or are too uninspired to do anything else.

This mis-states what is populism - the best definition I know is that it promises the moon tomorrow if you vote for the populist today.

That is dishonesty - the stock in trade of the populist everywhere.

Boris Johnson is dishonesty personified; the evidence is clear, but you can still find people who support him (rather a lot of people, in fact, all on the far Right) because he speaks to their prejudices.

Like, of course, those on here.
Here we go again, if you don,t agree with certain comments, then your branded a racist, change the record.
By the way, Boris is a very intelligent man, you don,t have to feel threatened by him. There are plenty more you need to worry about, but i expect you feel safe, tucked away in your Country farmhouse in a quiet village somewhere in Wales.

The way I see it something was agreed but it didn't go through. I don't think its worth overdoing the ante on it - its not legally binding and cannot be - everyone has the right to change their mind and in a way that's why money was invented ie to prove the contract or exchange has been done. In this case it wasn't done but no one truly lost out - if the buyer had paid then its different.

It may be immoral and it may be the way we all like to think it shouldn't happen but it does, in business its bound to.

So the boys mother told the OP to leave her son alone?
Can we read into that that the lad was an easy touch..... or even a 'bit touched'......... and the OP is peed off because his attempt at taking advantage was thwarted.
Smacks of sharp practice to me.
All very disturbing.

Your study of language and the classics seems to of been exemplary Walt.
It's such a pity you didn't pay a little more attention in mathematics.

you need a parial [ i mean a part, portion of but i cant spell it] history lesson bud, i voted to join a common market with half a dozen others countries in europe.
farming started doing well so they invented the green pound to shaft british farmers with
then there was the time they wanted to sell a car company ,.they collasped the pound s, to almost 1 for 1 so ford could buy it for a few $
after the deal was done the £lurched the other way so it changed the dynamic of the import/export market and screw the inporters.
at the start of the common market, the very laudable public aim wasto provide a firm stable food supply for europeans, but cheap because nobody but a few elite could
afford to hardly eat, it was understood that to grow food in plenty and cheap farmers had to receive enough money to enable them to live and spend a few bob in the european factories. hence why you see in france many farms with a new build house and buildings and a full set of derelict yards often turned into holiday accomadation of some sort
All this was supported by a newly invented tax[vat] a fixed % of which would go to farmers, that worked well untill that welsh f....er and his family was put in charge of the money
whose grasp of maths, being religious ment that 2 + 2 = 4 plus 1 for me and my cronies which is the real reason the majority voted out, we had had enough of being screwed
bit like a woman of a certain age, in 8 months time uk will start on hrt and life will be good again for a while, maybe 10 years maybe 25 years but is totally unpredictable

thought we had done a verbal deal on some hay with the son , he did say he would check with his family , grass cut hay made so as it was three weeks after speaking and not hearing back so deal done as far as concerned so texted to ask when i could shift them.

This is where it gets interesting , the mother phones up ranting that leave her son alone , it was too cheep and is worth more blah blah being taken back i did say i dont mind if you think its worth more and i would take x amount later in the year of lesser stuff as its to feed cows , she said she would phone back the following day , she didnt.

I left it due to harvest phoned no reply so phoned on an unrecognised phone she picked up so i could see where this was going , shouted screamed and put the phone down but i never had chance to mention both calls after getting the impression i was going to be welched on i had with her were recorded with it clear as xmas that the x amount mentioned etc.

I really dont give a ??ck about the bales but lied too and welchd on i do so given the fact i have it clear as day whats been said by her i feel slighty peed off but in a position she should pay the amount i would have paid to charity , what would others do , thanks
Why did u ask to lift them? Possession is 9/10 of the law
