Exactly what i was going to do !! 1 ton of wrought iorn and they want 600 quid ! weight seem a blunt way of charging no wonder iae make stuff light metal ha ha

is it all vented correctly and clean from oil and grease,We never have our work fettled (removal of spikes and rough spots) as they tend to murder it with the grinder or sander

Yes, all holes drilled 8mm holes, all new steel perfectly clean .

Argue about it then,I had some done about 18 months ago there for a job in Berwick and it was about £35 per ton more than we pay down here

thats what the £340 is based on. Here is a picture of a job from a few weeks ago that they fettled by mistake and you can see the grinder marks on the rafters

Newport charged me £650/ton last month for gates/posts

Plus
13.3% zinc surcharge
6% environment surcharge
£3.00 for certificate of conformity

382kg cost £299.22 plus vat

£550/ton for 100 mm x 100 mm box gateposts + 13.3% zinc surcharge + 6% environmental. Suffolk.

Is that the Wedge Group @AlfM? They're the ones who charged me £650 in Newport for the same sort of work.

Called Acrow and at Haverhill but I think you might be right about them being part of Wedge.

It was about 3-4 weeks ago, total was about £1100, can’t remember weight.
