Hi dazza i have the same problem as u not much money in pot to up grade as i was told its about £2500 per upgrade and i think you need 2 more modules to get to rtk so i opted to just pay £550 for years subscription with VBS which is giving me about 20cm accuracy once its warmed up drilled my rape with it so far with sumo trio and it all looking spot on so far .it may not me rtk accuracy but I'm finding the repeatability a lot better than egnos and hoping that with my drill bout markers and vari guide running it will at least help .

What width drill you using and what path to distance do you need to be set at?

Had a 3 day trial of Omnistar on our Case (trimble?) got fed up of waiting for the thing to reconverge every time it went under a tree. You could set it to less convergence do a quicker 'fix', but then I guess it would be less accurate. Been offered a years free RTX which I think is the next level down.

Haven't decided which way to go yet, will prob get a proper quote for RTK as I think the initial set up cost is higher but the yearly fees are less than omnistar. Generally keep tractors ten years so would prob woke out cheaper in the long run and no mucking about waiting.

There are two levels of RTX, Rangepoint, which is the one you would have been offered free (you get it free for 12 months with any new CFX/FMX )
and Centrepoint.
Rangepoint is like Egnos on steroids, Centrepoint is getting close to RTK accuracy but not repeatable.
There seem to be a few blackspots around the country where RTX doesn't work very well, but if you aren't in one of them one you should find Rangepoint as good as Omnistar, plus it also uses Glonass sats so you should get less dropouts.

Hi ... Me again....

So with OmniSTAR on VarioGuide you could go with VBS which is comparable to SF1 at +/- 15cm or HP which is +/- 5cm and roughly the same as SF2. As stated, the convergence (connection) time can stack up but it is extreme to say it drops out under every tree, normally by the time the tractor has been started, you grab your flask and get to the field you are good to go.

I would suggest speaking to your dealer, who should speak to their friendly Agco technology specialist who I am sure would be more than happy to rig up a demo. There would be an extra bit of hardware required to bring an EGNOS receiver up to HP level, and a three day trial subscription would complete the setup. All advise is good on here but there is nothing better than trying the kit in your own environment.

All accuracies perform different in different areas and what works for some can be a nightmare for others.

OmniSTAR subscriptions if ordered from your Agco dealer are available in 1, 3, 12 and 24 month blocks and can be added at anytime. The receiver could be switched back to EGNOS when the accuracy is not required or subscription has expired.

Night Night!

Posting on this thread as it seems to be where the fendt knowledge is.

I have a 720 which as part of a routine service had a software update at the beginning of the month. I have a KRM M2w fert spinner with isobus connection. This has always worked very well on the tractor. Yesterday I wanted to put some fertilizer on the OSR. Hitched up and plugged in. When I was spreading the forward speed for the spinner was reading 4kph below the dashboard of the tractor. I was using the canbus speed for the spinner, if I use the GPS speed I don't get a reading (I think this is because I don't have section control). The radar and wheel speed readouts on the tractor are correctly calibrated. To get over the problem I just set a fixed speed and this worked fine. The dealer is stumped and going to see if fendt know anything about this tomorrow. I wondered if anybody out there had a similar problem.

I've not had that happen but if it was mine I would go to page 3 I think it is and follow the instructions to change the hr and mins number. If it already is on 0 and 0 change it to something else then back down to 0 and 0. This was needed on ours to get gps on the can network and might get u gps speed for the spreader.

Worth a try perhaps.

Not sure what happened last Thursday and Friday morning but Rtk via SIM card was useless on variguide. Managed to phone my man at fri am and it came back at lunchtime and has been 100% since.

Did you try to figure out why? Which RTK signal are you using, are you sure they did not have problems? Did you check the receiver status data, was it connected to the NTRIP caster, low delay figures and the triangle visible?

Not sure if it is a SW issue but I sometimes need to cancel the NTRIP call and redial. The receiver says it is waiting for NTRIP but from my RTK base log I can see nobody logged in. At times the device is actually surprisingly slow to create the NTRIP connection, it fails at registering to the network, retries, fails at connecting to the caster and retries. Even at best it takes much longer than a good GPRS modem would do.

It would drop out and try to reconnect on N Trip but not move on. Tried all the normal stuff but to no avail. Anyhow phoned my dealer gps guy and he said I was the third person in sw to complain! I m on a roaming SIM card but it's from Trimble.
As a side, dealer put a high gain aerial on today to try.
