Simply how? It could only be tied to your ladder below you and need constant moving as you climbed up

That’s what rock climbers do - it’s not difficult. Fred exposes himself to unnecessary risks, was irresponsible with his own safety and that of others. A fantastic character, brave, but reckless beyond that necessary to do the job.

That’s my professional assessment and one I’d be confident that HSE would share with me. Would you honestly think he’d pass the legal test of having reduced the risks to levels that were as low as reasonably practicable (Edwards vs NCB 1974) ?

My professional assessment is get on with it . despite rigerous Health and Safety deaths occur , Dibnah didn't have that .

a simple rope tied around his waist and clipped to the ladder would seriously reduce the risk - even better a harness to a cleat and ground man taking up slack like a rock climber would have

pretty stupid not to imo

Do you wear a crash helmet in the tractor ? you should going by your philosophy

no I don’t

I can’t fall 400 plus feet to my death from a tractor though can I

would you climb that tower and put those ladders up without a harness or ANY safety in place knowing one wrong move / slip or bad fixing would definitely kill you ?
