Don't know what he paid for them or what he sold them for, but noticed he stated he had made nothing from them!!!. Darlington store trade yesterday was very good (for the sellers) hence why I suggested they had been bought to dear.
Bob,don’t try and be a clever ....Who the hell could have envisaged such a downturn in cattle prices when bought maybe 18 to 24 months ago?

I’m afraid that’s how farming works though

Was speaking to a neighbour last week, who came back from a mart with nothing, he said they were too dear and he wasn't willing to fatten cattle for nothing to make the abattoirs richer.

He made me laugh when he said he was lucky as he had not caught the empty shed virus. Many farmers can not bear to have sheds empty and will still fatten cattle when they know full well there's no money in the job.

That's fine, but you never know what price might do in a month or to six months if you have nothing in the shed you know that you won't make nothing like that either.

I very rarely come home from market with an empty trailer . At least then I have a chance of making something . With an empty trailer I have no chance of making anything !! .....of course some would say 'well at least you won't lose anything ' , however I'm always the optimist and will have a go !

I think grass fever is worse than empty shed syndrome...but I can’t see beef going down now...only up
