What can’t we do if anything

And that’s where the problems start, jobs that don’t class as key jobs can be part of the supply chain for those that are, it only takes one small part of the chain to malfunction and the whole thing grinds to a halt.

Somehow we need to get away from this idea that only key industries can work, we need as many people working as possible, albeit quite possibly having to alter their work practices to fit around the social distancing.
We have had to send letters to our supply chain asking them to stay open to

surely we can manage without car garages and drainage pipes for a few weeks ?
as long as we've got food and water
Depends on if you need your car to get to your key worker job
I have had a leek in the house and have really struggled to get the part I need to fix it now coming on Wednesday

other half furloughed, works in opticians, but they want a rota, for someone to go in, for 1/2 day a week, to sort out post, bank any money, and 'dispense' any glasses etc, how does that effect the 'furlough' ?

A furloughed employee can do NO work for that company
Each furlough period is 3 weeks, so you could do a rota, but I guess most businesses will want to shut up shop and reduce costs for next 3-6 months

The government are quite clear- if you can work from home or work in a situation where you are not in contact with people, then do so.

They don't want people sat at home doing nothing costing them 80% when they could be out being productive.

If there was a no work or sales coming through, then best to close

How much of the new rules are actually legally enforceable?
Best I can find is this:
www.kingsleynapley.co.uk/insights/blogs/criminal-law-blog/covid-19-the-legal-basis-for-lockdown
It seems that the Secretary for Health, Matt Hancock, placed a Statutory Instrument to the House on Sat March 21st
It seems to be similar to this:,
www.gov.uk/government/publications/developing-dynamic-lockdown-procedures
part of the Anti-Terrorism legislation.
which was withdrawn in February 2020

My wife has reopened her cafe today after a week off being unsure what to do , the staff are willing to work the main trade ( lorry drivers) have been really struggling to find somewhere to park up with food available. We’re now running a skeleton staff and a take away only menu .
Isn't that illegal ?

I dont believe Boris actually said only "key" or "essential" workers are the only ones allowed to go to work. He said only if it was "absolutely necessary" that you had to travel to work (and couldn't work from home).
Still confusion on this and even local radio, when blathering on about travel, talk about only "key" workers on going to work.

The argument for the 80% funding was to keep money moving in the economy, yet (tin hat on) people are downing tools when can work.

My Auntie in law was proud of me and miss Zippy for the essential work we are doing to keep the country going - and anybody not doing essential work should not work. Miss Zippy is NHS analyst, always works from home, until last Wednesday was not on the Corvid 19 stuff. Auntie felt that if she wasnt on the virus stuff then she shouldnt even be working ?‍♂️, despite working from home.
I am afraid all too many people will have that attitude
my farm is my home
