Only mix small amounts with pan mixer now,I sold my wagon about twelve months ago.

Ready mix hasn't dropped but stone and cement have crept up,I was mixing c35 for £50/cube at one stage, saving £32/ cube

Oh right, sorry I was trying to work out prices the other week, and thought I must be getting ripped off for either cement or stone.

Do you still mix your own @eulb or do you use readymix? I've had 3 loads in today and paid £77 per cube for c35. I can't see how it pays to keep mixing? :scratchhead:
But did it arrive on time? was there a gap between loads to let you finish the last load properly? Was there too much? Too little? surcharge for part load? Did the driver moan all the time?

I like mixing my own.

It never usually works out quite aswell, but I ordered it for the first load at 2pm, another at 3 and one at 4. Luckily the first one turned up at quarter past 2 the second one pulled up just has we'd finished the first then the third one turned up. So they'd all turned up within the hour!

But we had the spot on amount I could have done with 2 more shovels full, :smug: :D The drivers were spot on. But I know what you mean about them moaning. The first load had to be dumpered, so I was ready to tell him to feck off if he started.

3 full loads, but there wouldn't have been a surcharge for a part load as long as we order 1 full load.

Finished at 8pm last night in the end.

Last lot I ordered - 3 loads, by the same driver please.

2 hours late with the first, then two more turned up before he had started pouring, this was 14 years ago, put me off readymix. The concrete they poured is still not quite finished right.

This year done a mere 55 tonnes of cement (+ ballast as well) so far by pan mixer and it is all just right.

Would you mind telling me the costs? Don't worry if not.

I always remember as a kid, having a concrete delivery was the most stressful time. All the drivers were a*rseholes, they were either late or early, and wanting to charge waiting times.

I won't pay them before delivery, only on account. So I always check the time when they arrive, ready to tip. So when they're an hour early I've got 1h 30mins to tip if I need. Same if they're early.

The worse ones are tippers, they're like sheep. We had 4 of them turn up in a line, then they all have to wait their turn to tip. (n)

£17 for ballast, £3 for cement, mixing labour, water, depreciation and ruining my classic 8210 is for free of course but I never have much left over and we always lay fresh.

Best part of a couple of tons of ballast@£17 and 6cwt cement @£6
I reckon that ballast is about 1.75 tonnes per metre cubed, take off about 0.15 for the cement (some substitution and some filling in holes in the ballast) then the ballast is about 1.6t at 17 which is £27.2 plus £36 which is £63
