We're on laying C40 concrete. It's £78 per cube from one local firm, £80 from another.

Only mix small amounts with pan mixer now,I sold my wagon about twelve months ago.
Ready mix hasn't dropped but stone and cement have crept up,I was mixing c35 for £50/cube at one stage, saving £32/ cube
@eulb did you have an old readymix wagon for self mixing??
But did it arrive on time? was there a gap between loads to let you finish the last load properly? Was there too much? Too little? surcharge for part load? Did the driver moan all the time?Do you still mix your own @eulb or do you use readymix? I've had 3 loads in today and paid £77 per cube for c35. I can't see how it pays to keep mixing?

I like mixing my own.
Last lot I ordered - 3 loads, by the same driver please. It never usually works out quite aswell, but I ordered it for the first load at 2pm, another at 3 and one at 4. Luckily the first one turned up at quarter past 2 the second one pulled up just has we'd finished the first then the third one turned up. So they'd all turned up within the hour!
But we had the spot on amount I could have done with 2 more shovels full, The drivers were spot on. But I know what you mean about them moaning. The first load had to be dumpered, so I was ready to tell him to feck off if he started.
3 full loads, but there wouldn't have been a surcharge for a part load as long as we order 1 full load.
Finished at 8pm last night in the end.
Would you mind telling me the costs? Don't worry if not.Last lot I ordered - 3 loads, by the same driver please.
2 hours late with the first, then two more turned up before he had started pouring, this was 14 years ago, put me off readymix. The cncrete they poured is still not quite finished right.
This year done a mere 55 tonnes of cement (+ ballast as well) so far by pan mixer and it is all just right.
£17 for ballast, £3 for cement, mixing labour, water, depreciation and ruining my classic 8210 is for free of course but I never have much left over and we always lay fresh.Would you mind telling me the costs? Don't worry if not.
I always remember as a kid, having a concrete delivery was the most stressful time. All the drivers were a*rseholes, they were either late or early, and wanting to charge waiting times.
I won't pay them before delivery, only on account. So I always check the time when they arrive, ready to tip. So when they're an hour early I've got 1h 30mins to tip if I need. Same if they're early.
The worse ones are tippers, they're like sheep. We had 4 of them turn up in a line, then they all have to wait their turn to tip.
So around £79 a cube for c35?£17 for ballast, £3 for cement, mixing labour, water, depreciation and ruining my classic 8210 is for free of course but I never have much left over and we always lay fresh.
What recipe are you using there?I make that nearly £70m ballast and cement?
why c35 is it for animalsDo you still mix your own @eulb or do you use readymix? I've had 3 loads in today and paid £77 per cube for c35. I can't see how it pays to keep mixing?

Best part of a couple of tons of ballast@£17 and 6cwt cement @£6What recipe are you using there?
did you have fibreYes I was thinking 40, but we've always used 35 at home. I think these stronger mixes are just too strong and crack.
I reckon that ballast is about 1.75 tonnes per metre cubed, take off about 0.15 for the cement (some substitution and some filling in holes in the ballast) then the ballast is about 1.6t at 17 which is £27.2 plus £36 which is £63Best part of a couple of tons of ballast@£17 and 6cwt cement @£6
