HMRC Self Employed Grant Scheme

Problem with this self-employed scheme is that my farming income has been lumped in all together with the amount I can claim for freelance work. To date, I don't know if my farm income for this year will be hugely affected by covid-19 - yet to sell any lambs, for one thing - but the scheme only runs to the end of this month. I know the freelance side won't resume before autumn at the earliest, so a decision is needed now.

Being furloughed by my part time employer is so much more straightforward, and will be automatically carried over until October if needed.

Thanks, yes, I will.

My main income is from commercial farming, so any claim is with the secondary job in mind. If the Scheme is extended (Martin Lewis's website hints it's likely), then I'll have a better idea of the farm side of things, but at the moment, overheads for the secondary need attention (need that cashflow to sort them), so I'm going to have to show my workings on a piece of paper for an unseparated claim, then leave it at that (i.e., not put in any subsequent claims), and eke what's allocated to October.

Unless farm income goes phut! ...

Self Employed... Can have 3 or 4 things on the go under one Umbrella of self emplyment. If one has been hit by Covid... claim simple. It'll be on the next years self assesment anyway.

Just in process of applying. Does anyone know if you can take less than the full amount offered? I'm only affected 4/5 days a month when wife has to 'teach' key workers children so dont need 80% of wages

Seems a logical question that! There doesn't seem to be a way....which suggests some will gain more and others will lose out by having less.

I'd like to think they'd balance it out later somehow but I expect the cost of checking and doing so would exceed that of the money paid out.

That's been my dilemma, too. I've made the claim, and saw on one page in the HMRC process that there there seems to be room to amend at a later date.

Mine arrived this morning. Transferred it right into the farm account. It won’t go a huge way but definately better than nothing. Dads is due in a couple of days.
Did mine no problem.
Tried another partner's today with a new GG, their UTR and NI but same email address and it keeps going to my claim I made yesterday.
Doing something wrong?
