If people want to crack on with harvest then fair enough. The early farmer rarely owes the late one anything...
I cant encourage doing it with lots of glypho though, bar possibly the headland round.

Had a look at some Bazooka this afternoon that was drilled 21st September. If I was pushed, I could go now. Still a few greener ears in the tramlines, but 99% will bust my teeth when trying to chew it.

Trouble is that I still have a week’s hay making left to do first, preferably.

Just had phone call from SAI re doing a virtual assessment for our Deer enterprise. Was told Not till October thanks, especially as the NFU says all virtual Assurance tests are not compulsory. With harvest about to start And hay still to make, absolutely the last thing I want is any Assurance inspections!

I like to cut the Barley While it standing up don’t mind running it through the dryer, but I just do not like seen ears on the ground ,I’ve Waited all year to get it in the shed not To Leave it out in the field , Surprising what you leave when you count all them ears,

Farmer at Okehampton Devon said yesterday that nearby they cut WB a week ago as half the grain was shed to the floor through drought stress.
Only 75 acres, apparently.

It's some kind of new special purpose experimental variety imported from France, according to local grapevine.

Another one was having ago near swaffham yesterday, he always starts early.

In the video of him on FW page on facebook hes heard saying he recons the yield is 7.5t/ha, you can recon what you like but its little more than a guess. I know how hot and dry that land is and I'd it's doing 7.5t then the rest of us are laughing.

I did have a look at some of mine this AM and it's a couple of weeks away yet. Its getting there and it tested at 17.5% at 9am but the starw is still as green as grass.
