Truck Mover do have any recollection of J Copsey& Son collecting lambs in the 70s in wales and other sheep areas. They had the second Volvo f88 on a 34ft three deck trailer. Also had two smaller trucks getting cattle and pigs from east Anglia farms and markets. They took them to the own abattoir in essex

Are there any books done on this subject, would be very interesting.
Just looking at that pic of Skipton - how did it all work??

Were they sold through a ring?
Did you just amble round the different bunches of cattle and do private deals?

You'd need some fast drovers nowadays to stop a load of waspy limmy bullocks galloping up and down and getting mixed up with everybody else's :woot:

Coincidently, only today an old account book belonging to Mrs YB's great grandfather has surfaced. I don't know how well this will come out but here's a page from livestock sales for 1902 that almost ties in with @JP1's pic.......
