Still waiting for my lion poo delivery, I just thought the man with the best sheep fencing in all of East Anglia could offer some advice in the meantime .
......perm fence along water courses not the best idea IME
£10,500/£12,000 depending on spec and how bad the site is. Could be more if it’s up dale and down valleyDoes any know a rough guide price for a contractor to put up 3000m of sheep fence ?
About £3 a metre here on easy flat land, more for challenging terrain.Does any know a rough guide price for a contractor to put up 3000m of sheep fence ?
I got £3 per metre grant on pretty challenging going but even with the best will in the world it cost me more than the grant money on every occasion to do the job.About £3 a metre here on easy flat land, more for challenging terrain.
I’m not thinking I would get it as much as thatThe prices above are labour only, you could be looking at between £6-8/m possibly more depending on the ground conditions, spec and material's
The guy asked what it would cost for a contractor to do it. I'm sure it can be done cheaper with the poorest materials and 3yr life span tanalised timber.I’m not thinking I would get it as much as that
A bit since I did mine. I did some myself this year didn’t ask what the posts and wire cost but I know they’ve gone upThe guy asked what it would cost for a contractor to do it. I'm sure it can be done cheaper with the poorest materials and 3yr life span tanalised timber.
10years ago the "standard" rate was cicra £5/m using the shitty tanalised posts that subsequently all rotted. Since then all materials have gone up massively as well as labour. Added to that people are now realising that paying for creosote has long term benefits so the price has gone up substantially.A bit since I did mine. Some of what else did less than ten years ago is fooked now. Posts rotted off at the usual place. Quite upsetting really. What’s the protocol with posts nowadays to get some life out of them? Father always had a batch of posts inside the shed drying out ready to use and a barrel of creasote x waste oil mixed. Left them in a while then did the next lot. If you don't mind paying for creosote, then UK treated posts are dried and pressure treated, they just sting a bit in your pocket buying them and if you get a spalsh in your eye. If you won't pay for creosote then you need to find larch posts treated with tanalith. It's the same chemical they all use but larch have more natural durability than pine or spruce. Otherwise its metal posts. Some of what else did less than ten years ago is fooked now. Posts rotted off at the usual place. Quite upsetting really.
