Never used coats on ours, always made sure there’s plenty of straw and no draftsQuestion for you jersey experts do the calves need a coat to keep them warm now the weather is picking up.
Jer X all a bit new to me
They have plenty of straw, but this part of north Staffordshire the wind seems to never stop blowing so drafts can be a problem.got them all coats now as Bald Rick said twenty pounds is cheap insurance.Never used coats on ours, always made sure there’s plenty of straw and no drafts
Bought two yearlings by ribblesdale beaumont, both very dark, one has just calved her 3rd, red and white fr bull calf, so must be some 'red' colour in the breeding, they were both sold as pure jerseys.Anyone ever had a pedigree jersey calf born almost black. In all the years ive been breeding never seen one until today not a deep black like an angus but a very dark brown black
Daughter has a few Jerseys and we struggle to find bulls that transmit chest width, most studs are full of narrow chested poor uddered bulls, not the sort of animal that most would want.
