They would have too many cows on some thin old ground to be able to graze them for 120 days unless they are buffer feeding them in field.
I can confirm they were on Waitrose milk price of circa 34p as my friend worked there, he said they struggled to make it pay at that price too.

They bought a herd out of Dorset when the unit was built and introduced DD to the farm.

Didn't they install rubber matting everywhere for cow comfort, but ended up trimming feet constantly as they just didn't wear at all!
Trouble is you've got managers left right and centre at those places all pulling 50k salaries each, totally different to how.a normal farm works

So what rate is acceptable for the cost of production supermarkets contracts unsociable hrs weekends surly they paye enough people to accept a good wage ???

IIRC Tesco allow in excess of 50k for the farmer in their COP formula

£50k sounds a lot but that wouldn’t buy very high up management within Tesco

I don’t know details of how it works but I’m sure last I heard they were allowing 56k for the farmer and that’s a few years ago

Think I've allowed myself £12,000 plus fuel, plus the house and am hoping that I wont need all that so I can pay the loan off a bit quicker
