The removal of all subsidies back in the 80’s (?) meant that government has had no tools to control farmers hence the free for all on animal welfare and pollution controls which are now gradually being implemented but without significant recompense.
“Groundswell” is justifiably concerned for the future of NZ Ag but really doesn’t need to morph these demonstrations into an “anti-woke” agenda, that is a separate issue.
Could UK Ag organise anything on this scale in 47 major towns and cities or would it just end up like cats in a sack?
