Re-ringing a roller

I have a nice set of Cousins rolls where the leading edges are becoming a bit blunt for my knobbly ground. Normally I’d buy 12.2m set but these are ideal for some smaller fields. Not knowing the price for new 22” rings and clod breakers over 8.2m I wonder if it ever on just buying new rings etc and fitting them to a good frame. Anyone done this ?

i suspect though it’ll be cheaper to sell and go and buy a 12.2m set instead. Any thoughts ?

There will be many farmers who would buy those rolls and use them for many years on their soil type. Trade them in you will be happily surprised and ‘i suspect cheapeer than re ring ing the old set

That’s exactly the conclusion I have come to. Structurally they’re 100% throughout even paint is good, it’s just the rings aren’t quite as sharp as they could be

And some farmers who would dearly love to have a set of triples to speed the job up (or even incentivize doing it at all sometimes) but for the amount they would be used simply can not afford a ‘good’ set.

I've just done my set of 7.6m dalbos. They did a new kit which was rings and breakers all assembled on new shafts with bearings, simply bolt in. 6.5k from memory.

Mine were miles worse than yours though, and as above you'd get good money for them. Mine went in the scrap bin!
