Well we held on for a couple months and haven't sold anything sheep or cattle wise in support of and waiting for the plan to rise beef and lamb prices in the face of increased input prices but in the absence of a plan being forthcoming we have these two going tomorrow, sorry

What you actually mean is you have had nothing to sell for the last few months but now you have 2 that are ready and like the rest of us they need to go due to financial burdens…..

What’s the script with haulage? Is that delivered in or ex farm?
You may laugh but it costs me £2.50/head to transport some of mine, Base that on an 18kg carcass and that’s 14p/kg difference 🤷🏻‍♂️
Haulage was free till last year. It’s now 8p/kg to kingswinford or 14p to yetminster. Could be more now with fuel price. Thats delivered to collection centre. If there booked in by Friday night there always away the next week. Collection centre does 4-5k a week. A lot of people slag them off but I find my type of lambs do better there than other firms. Won’t be a huge lot in it tho. Once had a lamb go missing at Dunbia still never got paid for it even tho the wagon driver said how many there was. Main thing for me is being paid base price on an 3H which alot of my lambs are. Don’t seam to get the 4’s Either which there was a lot of at Dunbia.

Quite often it’s the beauty with numerical order tags put in the day before, I’ve had it with 1 tag missing out of 150, phoned and they’ve paid group average on it which is fair, or a lamb jump in lairage and you get 1 10kg lamb in with a group of 18’s.. I know what you mean, I wouldn’t send my lambs live either, my better shaped lambs fit a contract grid I’m on but a mule whether or ewe lamb which is heading towards a 4L/H would be heavily penalised so they go non contract.

live they want them 3H/4’s yet dead I get a lot more for a 2/3L

No that's not what I mean.
What I mean is that there isnt really a way to get increased prices other than creating a shortage or farmers just fixing a price that they will not sell below, I don't see either of these happening.

Truth is we sold those heifers because someone wanted to buy them, financially I could keep the bloody lot till this time next year but as I have said before we would struggle with room in the winter

If you can afford not to sell any stock for over a year then you’ve either won the lottery or live like a caveman

Like the oil tankers?

Do OPEC not control oil supply worldwide. They simply leave the oil in tankers and restrict supply until price rises. You would almost think the price in the UK is higher than other countries that's why there hoping to unload here.🤣

Think I suggested limiting supply a few pages back, but was shot down.🤔

Not the best time to do it for a sheep farmer though, nothing much sold since November here and 7 months of inputs… 🤷🏻‍♂️ There wouldn’t be many left to see the rise if they held out

So you cant keep them till next year then,as you dont have enough winter housing?

Seen a post on FB last night. Timber haulage company sent their drivers home yesterday, and told them not to turn out next week. 30 odd wagons parked up in yard. Going to lose far less money paying staff to do nothing for a couple of weeks to see what happens
I wish the Timber Haulage that drives past me would get laid up in the yard...................permanently. No sign of it happening yet. Wish they would open the North British railway line up again that Beeching shut, and put the timber on there,it would be a good idea and save the road repairs.I cant see Diesel being any less in 2 weeks time, but could well be more. 196p here.
