Rubbed some gravity out in my hand this afternoon , it's on a very light piece of ground and has always looked well , 3 weeks ago I would of guessed nearly 4 ton crop , I have just moved my estimate to nearer 3 ,

Don’t lose hope. Cut 20 acres of Extase today, 25% of which has been dead or flattened by badgers for a month. Moisture ranged from 11.2-18.2, but averaged 3.7t/acre. 76kg. We are on gravel and incredibly dry. The older I get, the less I know. Must be the sunshine.

2 weeks in normal times maybe, but this year?...after this past week? Would be very interested to know what it tests at by Monday? I've been caught out occasionally in the past in a hot, dry spell when wheat grain becomes dry before the ears all start curling!

Farm looks like it’s been sat in an oven.
Everything except the spring beans is ready. Never seen grains of wheat so small but they look nice. 12% moisture rubbed out. Will be lucky to do 2t per acre.

We sprayed our OSR a fortnight ago but found the heat dried the pods to a crisp while the stalks stayed green. Had to combine it and seed came off at 6.4%. The unsprayed bit I saved for seed was as dry as the sprayed off stuff.
Almost come to the conclusion that spraying with glyphosate is a waste of time and money.

Had a nibble at the wheat. Despite some testing 12% there are too many greens and soft ones so packed up after half a tank at 18.5%.
Seen quite a few around here done one round and packed in.

Wheat looks fit, straw all died off, but you don't have to look hard to find grains 30%.

Your 18.5% is what I'd guess two thirds is really hard 11-12% and the other third 30% soft grains.

Middle of next week I think will be about right here.

That’s about it. Sticking it in 3 ton trailer with a pedestal all of it’s own.
Might try the spring barley but it looks similar.

Harvested some spring barley. Moisture ranges from 12 to 18% hooefully averaging around 15%. Some dead fit and necked but some annoying softer patches. Crack on and take a drying charge or leave it and risk heads on the floor? Doing just under 2 t per acre. Thin grey looking sample but just hit 70 bushel.
