I've always cut a one metre width strip for the footpath but just seen an article stating that it's only necessary to cut a path through crops OTHER than grass. What do others do?
But coming to the end of our Stewardship and due an inspection. No cut path means big fine.If they walked it regularly, wouldn't need a strip cutting.
I made the mistake of trying to cycle down a rape tramline, got 5 yards before I got tangled up .looked like the incredible hulk as in shorts and t shirtHow do others cope with footpath across OSR? We sprayed out the footpath but now the rape is 6' tall and spreading its near impossible to walk down. Im heading there with my hedging billhook today to widen it as I dont want the hassle of complaints.
You have to assume ,common sense is non existant, also assume they have no brain are selfish and think they are always right. We were having a lot of trouble on one block of land with folks walking everywhere. . One day I asked a woman why she was trailing through the mowing grass. She said "well nobody has ever told me not to". I said well you shouldn't need telling, it should be common sense. Then it struck me that they do need telling because they have no common sense. , So I put some signs up. I couldn't believe what a difference it made, now 90% of them keep to the path, the other 10% never will learn.View attachment 1111023View attachment 1111025
When the surface of a footpath is disturbed a guideline should be put in within x hrs to show the footpath. We run them in after drilling as a wheelmark. You don't need to in grass, but it's a good shout to do so for your own benefitI've always cut a one metre width strip for the footpath but just seen an article stating that it's only necessary to cut a path through crops OTHER than grass. If it’s as wrong as all these mapping sites and google earth they would be walking everywhere but the pathIf only there was a way that people going walking could carry with them an aerial view of the local area with a dotted line to show where the path runs….
