Husqvarna 455 chainsaw, or 4x Hyundai

I've just been told my Husqvarna 435 is not worth repairing, about 5 years old but only occasional use and I'm a bit disappointed really. From what I've read on here, to expect better build quality you need to look at the professional range, is the 455 Rancher in this category? Or do I buy a cheap Hyundai and expect to bin it in 2/3 years (I could buy 4 for the price of the Husqvarna!)

I have 3 of the Hyundai for the same reason . Not managed to kill one yet and there’s always a sharp one

The 435 is abit of a toy to be honest , the 455 is different beast ,I've got one .
The last size before you go into the autotune models

Piston badly scored, said it would be about £250 to repair against £350 for a new one. When I asked why it had happened he said probably because I'd been using mineral oil (the one they recommended when I bought it) rather then synthetic. He did give me the impression that it was a fairly typical life expectancy for that model though.

455 is a manual set carberuter, then they go into the 550-555 and 560 which are autotune ,electronic fuel management.
They work ok if they are used often but not to sit on the shelf for months .

I run husky XP ,that's recommended for the autotune models ,Been using that mix in all my saws and brick saw .
Don't use E10 petrol ,itll kill older carberuter engines

I’ve got a 560xp it’s an animal for a small saw. Also comes with a 2 year professional warranty. Can’t recommend enough.

I have a 550 XP and as you say they are very good saws but for the op I would say a hyundai would work out much cheaper as it is for occasional use only.
The Husqvarnas are at least 5 times as expensive.
(I actually have both )

edit: I do have both but have to say the Hyundai has never even had petrol in it at 18 months old or more, the 550 wins always.

Definitely, I’ve rebuild loads with non genuine parts. They work fine.

3year warranty on them aswell 62cc for £100

if your not a everyday user and just need abig saw for your own firewood you can’t go wrong

Re the Hyundai - my Stihl 291 has been a bit temperamental just lately and I'm trying to finish of sawing up a couple of large Spruce trees I had felled just recently, so I thought for that money I'd take a gamble. Actually bought from Amazon - £124 delivered next day. Arrived this morning and just had a play sawing through about 10 sections of an 18" thick Spruce log, it coped very well and have to say quite pleased, build quality not bad as well and even comes with a spare chain.
