law dictates they are offered back to who they were bought from at the sane price as purchase

Are you certain? I understood that the law dictates that the property is offered back at the value today, not purchase date.
Many Farmers myself included were hit by land requisitioned during the war at very low values were hit by the Crichel Down ruling. My Grandfather lost a farm for under £10 an acre was offered back to me for around £400 in the 70’s. This was top market price then.

HS2 should have been cancelled years ago. The government should keep the land and build affordable housing on its whole length. These homes should remain in public ownership. A memorial to the failure of privatisation. The whole thing could be called Thatcher Street.
Who knows !
You can never second guess what might happen to these things as they evolve and GOVS change ....

not 109% sure on how they value it but it dies have to be offered back to the compulsory purchase owner first

there is a good argument it’s worth less now as been derelict for a while and now forever blighted by threat of a hs2 revival ?

we need less nanny state not more

want a house ? get if your arse and work to buy or rent one !

this country has to stop rewarding those that “can’t be arsed”
Yes but, the housing situation has become ridiculous not thanks to lack of demand , but government action, or possibly inaction. Young peoples aspirations are being destroyed by the current housing market

Housing Benefit is some £27bn a year - direct subsidy to the Buy To Let brigade. 'Buy to let' possibly the definitive 'can't be arsed'. True capitalism at work. Locks out non capitalists.

you reckon councils can run property cheaper than private landlords 🤣🤣🤣

now that is funny, they could turn buying a box of paper clips into a million £ tender !

No!! Living on Thatcher street would be something everyone aspired to. Availability wouldn’t be first come first served it would be linked to performance in public services.

There are many folk not in the public services equally deserving. Public service pay and conditions are not at all bad when all is considered.
