How close to a Power line with Pylons to a house?

I have just seen a consultation for a green energy project, that puts a pylon line right next to my bungalow. How close it too close? Does it alter the valuation of the property? Is it injurious to health? Can one alter the route? Will it alter the value of the land as well or just the bungalow? Will it alter rental value?

Absolutely tamping here.

May be an old wives tale being carcinogenic but my wife’s auntie/uncle and 3 kids/cousins live around 25m away from a HV overhead line and all 5 of them have a difrent form of cancer, ranging from leukaemia, breast, pancreatic & colon. I’m far from a conspiracy theorist but it does make you wonder.
And I've an auntie who lived right under one for 40 years and she's 92 no ill health

Yep I don’t doubt it, like I said I’m far from a conspiracy theorist, I drink milk straight from the tank and more often than not don’t wear the full PPE when filling the sprayer but I’m yet to get TB or find any Ill effects from chemicals.

Just strange how that family is riddled with cancer yet other direct family members haven’t got it, several getting letters from the queen for reaching a century.

When I was at University in Wales a fun thing to do was go into the hills above the University farm. There was a high voltage line that ran close to the ground if you to a strip light up there and stood under the line it would glow very brightly. Living in close proximity to a power line can’t be good for you.

Lucky her. My neighbor since moved lived closer to the line than me but her son died at 28 with MND had already lost husband to cancer and my better half diagnosed with cancer 2 year ago. Make up your own mind.

There's no right or wrong , smoking is generally considered to be bad for your health but, there are some exceptions as always, smokers who live to be 90 plus. Etc .
As for the pylons, I'm of the opinion that I wouldn't want to live under one. Safe than sorry .

Pylon 800m up the road next to a big house ,occupier has been suffering
from big health issues and failed to sell the house for many years.
I would say it knocks 30-40% off the value if it is very close.
We have two on this farm and you can hear them humming when usage is high .

Sorry to hear this @Ffermer Bach, having a Pylon & the resultant power lines close to your house will only have a negative effect on your health & the value of property both short & long term. I certainly wouldn't choose to live close to large overhead lines & I never hear anything positive from people who do or have, you have every right to be tamping.

Our locality is currently in a battle with SSEN regarding the route of a new line, the campaign has been quite vocal & some subtle alterations to the original plan are being discussed after much campaigning, unfortunately ScotGov up here are just as useless as your version having yet again backed the large corporation & not their voters.

Did the govt/elec people recently offer a measly £1000pa off energy bills for a decade for those affected by new nearby pylons?
Not sure of the definition of nearby tho..

We ve got a proposed line through us aswell and I’m shitting it! The buzzing in damp weather can be horrendous. We ve all heard about the Beauly buzz!

But SSEN and the Scottish gov don’t care. It’s all about the scam that is net zero.
Thankfully we are nearing the end of the road for the clueless terrorist sympathiser & his cardboard cut out Green alliance cohorts play days up here, nothing about that experiment has been a success meanwhile we will still have to mop up the mess.
Nothing in their heads but net zero & absolutely no reasonable plan on how to achieve it - frightening.

I’m told by the agent we are using that properties are worthless near the pylons.they are also estate agents and when people discover that pylons are to be near by,everyone pulls out.when next viewer comes the agents have to say why previous viewers were not interested and when they discover the reason they don’t look either.may be some bargains if some people are not bothered.i also understand there is a children’s cancer associated with these pylons but can’t say any more about it,or should say I don’t know any more about it .

Government is adamant no children linked disease but be on the lookout for leukemia and MND. The converted barn that had the MND death went on the market at 950k and finally after 5 years of price reductions sold for 500k but with all windows and doors to be replaced which reduced the price by a further 50k.
