ADAMA has announced the launch of a new range of easy-to-use packaging for its portfolio of herbicide, fungicide and insecticide products. Featuring design elements which are the result of feedback from farmers and sprayer operators, the new containers make it easier, quicker and safer to use ADAMA’s range of crop protection products.

The new 5-litre containers feature a standard 63mm diameter pouring neck which is now sealed with a foil-less, easy grip cap which requires less torque and effort to open. The container itself features a strengthened and textured handle which is easier to grip, especially with gloved hands, for more accurate pouring with fewer spillages. The base of the new containers is also textured with raised...

Farming is Changing Leaflet

A new leaflet has been published, covering all of Defra’s agricultural policy decisions to date.

The Farming is Changing leaflet is designed to increase awareness and understanding of the changes that will follow after Brexit. These changes include: phasing out Direct Payments, delinking them from the requirement to farm the land, and Defra’s new Environmental Land Management (ELM) scheme.

“There’s no new policy information in this leaflet but it’s the first time Defra has published everything in one place,” said Vicky Price of Berrys.

“Where a policy decision hasn’t been made yet, this is acknowledged and there is a promise to...

After what has been a difficult year, the importance growers attach to a variety’s disease resistance is likely to increase even further. For many, the ability of a variety to resist disease has overtaken yield as the deciding factor when choosing what to sow.

KWS Siskin is a prime example. Its initial appeal came from its combination of barn-filling yield potential, wide drilling window that extends into the early winter, quality grain and excellent resistance to Septoria tritici, but its consistency has served to support its appeal. Consequently, it has been one of the most popular...

The majority of veterinary medicines used in the UK (including the ingredients and components needed to make them) are either produced in or enter via the EU.

Our industry has been working closely with regulators, and has responded very well to concerns about supply, with detailed planning measures for all EU Exit scenarios including no deal.

These plans have involved a great deal of work and cover all aspects of supply chains from regulatory compliance and stocking levels to logistics and customs. They also include, as appropriate, increasing stocks of products in the UK, changing supply routes, transferring marketing authorisations and other regulatory...

Cross-Channel imports to the UK could face “significant disruption lasting up to six months” with the potential to cause shortages of human and animal medicines and supplies, according to secret Government No-deal planning papers.

The Government was forced to publish documents from Operation Yellowhammer, its No-deal contingency planning paper earlier this week.

It warned: “The reliance of medicines and medical products’ supply chains on the short straits crossing make them particularly vulnerable to severe extended delays”, and added that shortages of some food items could also be likely coming up to Christmas.
