Is there anything more annoying...

Had a cow steal another calf this year whilst calving then reject its own when it was born :banghead: did get there in the end and she loves her own calf now but many choice words said in the process

When you fall out with the dog and she runs off leaving you to move sheep by yourself :banghead:
And then you wish you hadn't shouted at her and told her she was a useless because she let a lamb run the wrong way because she really isn't useless. She reminds me every time she does her run away trick :cautious:
I usually have to go to the yard and get her and be her best friend again damn dog knows exactly what she is doing

Mrs PBH asked if I wrote that when I read it out:D:D

Though I've avoided shouting at her pretty much, but she still manages to disappear on a regular basis.
She probably thinks "Useless" is her name now though!
Really missing my old boy, and he really misses coming out with me. The spirit is willing but the body is weak.

Had 2 ewes do that at the start of lambing that a spell in stocks didn’t cure.

So the when another one did it I swapped her lambs with lambs from another ewe that was already in the stocks and after a few days bingo!
You did well! Pays not to try to understand these things that go on in a sheeps head

No. I still can not sort this problem out. Had a few done it too
It can mostly be solved, but it takes a bit of work. Put the whole outfit in a large bonding pen and hurdle off one corner to keep the lambs behind. Let the lambs out to suck every 4 or 5 hours and then straight behind the hurdle again( you will have to hold the ewe obviously for the first couple of days but after that they tend to stand, she might need threatened with a bit of alkathene. ) After 3-5 days put the ewe in an outhouse or handling pens on her own for half an hour or so, then put the lambs in with her. It works if you're prepared to put up with the hassle.

Sounds like fun.
However, I would suggest it depends on the breed too, some being more amenable than others. I rarely failed with the Texel crosses, but once their Highlander descendants decide one of the lambs isn’t theirs, that’s it.
Had three this year that had one lamb wander off to another ewe when they were being licked, two of them only for 5-10 minutes. They’ve all ended up going out of the messabout pens with one.

I won’t be culling them for it though, and would expect them to be fine next year.
