This is just an exploratory foray, to gauge your reaction.
It is important that you respond in a carefully considered manner, because your joint future financial and domestic harmony depends upon what you do next.
You could choose to nothing, of course; however that would be a very risky strategy. It is then but a small leap of imagination to foresee the time that you return from a hard day's chucking dust to the four winds, only to discover Her Ladyship sitting reading Hello magazine, and drinking frothy latte, whilst the local Cookerburra franchisee cleans her oven for her.

I don’t want you thinking Mrs COP is some kind of modern day Cinderella. Far from it. She is a free spirit and I expect nothing to be done for me if she has something else to do.

I even have a crack at some housework occasionally. And I’m a dab hand at a Sunday roast.

But money spent with such carefree abandon can only lead to a very vexing future. I mean, what next? New coat hangers instead of asking for them at Primani?

I can foresee a time when I might have to choose one of my “useless tractors in the shed that never earn anything” to sell to get us out of a financial pickle.

And if it comes to the fateful day and the JD 2850 has to go, then my lad has threatened to leave with it. Then who will be to blame for that?

I am devoid of ideas to find a way out.

Aye-up,

I was speaking to a retired accountant the other day. Nice chap who spent all his life “arguing with farmers about how much money they have and trying to get my bit out of them!”

He said it was surprising how many partners would just seem to work and spend independently of the others, as if they didn’t matter.

That reminded me of a customer who, years ago, left all the financials to their mother who, without his knowledge, sold the farm and left him high and dry while she emigrated.

All of which brought to to thinking about my business. I am in partnership with my wife. We don’t have property or huge savings or a share portfolio or financial investments to get excited about.

HOWEVER….. just last week, without so much as a hint or a nod, she floored me a bit. I couldn’t quite believe it. This is my lovely wife who I share everything with. We will talk about even the small expenses, such as last autumn on a shopping trip with her pal she called to ask if she could buy some new netball trainers. That’s nice, but unnecessary- obviously the answer is always a yes.

So imagine my shock and outrage when she returned last week with an unauthorised ironing board cover AND a twin pack of mop heads!!!

TWO MOP HEADS!!

And not just any mop heads, bloody Vileda SuperMop heads!!!

I would have a farm sale if I thought it would get us out of trouble.

What the hell is the world coming to?

Advice please. I’m lost.

Cheers, Pete
Are you looking for a divorce lawyer😂
