Why not full it yourself?
Buy em in cheap

I thought an isolation unit could only take calfs from a single farm in a single batch, unlike a finishing unit. But calf can never move from a TB finishing unit to a normal farm unlike an isolated unit.

Thought I would ask the question here to see if anyone knows before I ring the APHA tomorrow...

I have 2 sheds that would be perfect for isolation units. One would be fully enclosed. The other has outside handling facilities but the animals housing would be fully enclosed.

Would that be allowed or not?

Should be fine if you can put an electric fence round the handling system so the boundary extends past it to become one whole unit

@Rossymons we have an isolation unit on farm that allows us to bypass the 7 day standstill. Fully enclosed barn with a further margin around outside from any other cattle. Separate entrance from road and own handler. Basically nothing enters the area directly from the main farm. Separate holding number

However it's my understanding that that isn't suitable enough for an actual tb isolation unit

How hard was it organising the yard with a separate holding number? A different opportunity has come up

When we got our isolation unit it comes with it's own number which they won't let you keep after the unit goes clear.
Had a badger proof shed and separate forklift , overalls , wellies for each unit

We have 2 holding numbers here. Need separate entrance off of the road. Muck stores away from other holdings cattle. Separate staff and biosecurity. @Rossymons can have a look at our separate units and how they are set up if you want.

When i asked last week they said i needed a good reason to have two holding numbers within a ten mile radius. I couldn’t think of a good enough off the hoof so failed

A limited company renting and using a self contained yard should do it, as its legally a different busines.
