Wheat pre em

If I am going to try and top my flufenacet up, what timing should I be aiming for 6 weeks after pre em or early in the new year? All crops looked super clean until late spring this year so thinking I need to bolster the residuals.
Pre em either Regatta Bandur or Regatta Defy, if to late for Bandur.

You will find you’ll need to spray in spring to get rid of brome completely
Used proverb at full rate last spring but did not clear brome completely I am convinced the brome came in the seed originally as it seemed resistant to any spray. I have not used Broadway star yet but it only states one variety considering trying one field come spring . Used defy pendomethlyn last year as now previously fft, dff, but they do not kill it I have spent weeks rouging in the last two springs. Also considering using proverb plus atlantis star in the spring.

Monolith is also very good on brome in spring

After a bit of advice please seeing as there’s a lot of knowledgable people on this thread…

i chickened out of putting a pre em on my winter barley as it is sand ground and with heavy rain forecast I was worried about it washing down the profile to the seed

I was going with 4l crystal + 50g DFF

I know I can legally apply this mix post em but would you say it would be too harsh on the winter barley crop ? Should I be reducing rates

thanks

Bit of a dilemma.
That’s a good mix, but can hammer the crop if it gets to the seed after heavy rain.
Some agronomist are suggesting putting half of it on pre-em and the other half early post (peri) em.

I have found it more damaging to wheat than Barley.
I wouldn’t reduce rates, but split it in 2.
The DFF doesn’t need splitting, but the Crystal maybe does.

However, if you haven’t put anything on yet, put the full dose on asap after it is up.

So. No preem on. Water bubbling up where last year's tramlines were. What's the plan? Roundup in the mix and get it on and pray / don't look behind? Or get over the fact it's going to be silage next year, and don't make myself sad looking at it?

Have a week off. Then make a plan. Herbicide in the autumn is the art of the possible. Spraying on to very water logged ground isn’t a good idea even if traveling is possible imo. Equally ffct can be effective on one leaf bg. Not the day to decide.

This year doesn’t get any better. However, forecast for the next week isn’t too bad, so absolutely agree with your post.
Only wish the forecast had been a bit more accurate when I put my full rate pre-ems on Direct drilled crops last Monday!
That is truly arse-clenching stuff!

In a week or two I will let you know how Winter Wheat and Winter Barley looks that received a great stack of herbicide earlier this week. If after the quantity of spray cans and the rain there is just one Blackgrass plant I am personally going to take my BASF / Gowan / Bayer local reps into fields and stick there noses, literally, into the mud!! Will keep you posted. And will take any pictures as appropriate.
