Good Evening,
I’m very sorry if this is the wrong Thread, but I am Allan, I served in the Armed Forces for 10 Years and I have been shooting Air Rifles since I was 15 years old now 35 so I have 20 years rifle experience and weapons Handling experience, I was wondering what the best way would be to ask or gain permission from a farmer to shoot on his land, I have shot Rabbits, Rats, Wood Pigeons and Grey Squirrel's and I am wondering if anyone would let me shot on there land, I would happily return the favour by helping out around the farm if required or I can pay for the pleasure of letting me on there land to hunt the pests, if anyone knows any hints or tips or if anybody would let me that would be amazing and I’m happy to come help out on the farm before hand so we can create a relationship before I even go shooting. If anyone has any help it would be much appreciated, I Live in St Neots but I’m happy to travel.

Find a local shoot. Go beating. That normally opens the doors to vermin control

Join a proper gun club, meet like minded people and they might open doors for you. You should have BASC insurance already.
There isn’t many Proper Gun Clubs near me but I have found one 45 minutes away which I have messaged and thank you for the Advice I will wait for them to reply and I do have full BASC insurance. Thank you for your reply its greatly appreciated

That’s exactly what I want to do build the relationship and trust with the owner and community and even make friends out of it, do you know any sites I can look at to see if anyone needs a beater? Or just Google it? I’m happy to beat or help out being out helps with my mental health so im happy either way. But just trying to get a start and find a local shoot. Thank you for your reply it’s greatly appreciated you took the time.

Visit face-to-face and tap on doors. But there's technique to this too. Do your research and adjust your approach accordingly. When are his meal times? Does he go to the pub? To the mart? Give your target long enough to give you a visual assessment but not long enough to think of a reason to say 'no'. If refused, stay pleasant and accept it gracefully. If possible, name drop. Try local NFU, local mart, etc. for names of farmers with vermin problems. A CV could help, but only to be produced if prompted. Ask for suggestions/recommendations. I've been on both sides of the fence and met some lovely helpful generous people but it's mostly how you treat them. Most fail on here because of lack of respect. You are not helping a farmer by offering to shoot on his land, he's probably heard it all before and been let down as many times. Good luck!

Facebook has several beating groups, search for one in your area

We’re a long way from the OP, I’ve two lads come shooting ( fox, rabbit etc) very reliable and always let me know if they are about. Another guy training dogs to flush rabbits amongst rushy parts , again will always ask/ let me know if he’s around
Both the above approached me and had a chat , we let them on and thankfully it’s been a good working relationship
Best way I would say is knock on doors , be polite even if the land owner is a grumpy feker.

Give them a letter explaining that they have your permission to do X and Y but not Z and then a copy of the farm map outlining your boundary. Anything outside of this and they're gone.
