I’d say anything common rail like that then they’d replace the lift pump first. It comes with a filter I believe. Once that’s done then my experience with other engines would be to suggest the suction control valve (SCV) on the main pump might well need replacing.

The pipe comes off on us regularly and then the fan blows the diesel all over the engine which is one of the reasons we are going to hot wash it all down first.

Sorry for resurrecting the thread but can I ask if the replacement lift pump solved your issue?
Had same problem here and changed lift pump this morning, issue has improved but still 'hunts' at idle although less frequently. Think I'll change fuel lines from both sides of main filter as they're those plastic types with questionable quick connector's.

We changed the pump which was a simple job and we did a full service changing all the diesel and oil filters. It is now running better than it ever did. Idling perfectly.

Isn't just that idle is very low? Jcb's wisdom that there isn't a screw at the pump to adjust idle but you have to tighten the throttle cable, telehandler here has idle up a bit as sitting in it ticking over shook ur eyes out ur head
