Got to laugh at some of the comments speculating about them high priced cattle at Hexham yesterday. Was a good friend of mine who was selling them, spoke to him last night and there was certainly no “extra luck” or anything “fishy” going on. They’re a very genuine family who support the live...
I don’t think you can compare the start price of those smart cattle to the end price of deadweight. They’re all live weight cattle. Even if them heifers are 580kg @ 2.85ppk (and that’s conservative) they’re still leaving £450. They’ll be killing them late summer early autumn surely, so they’ll...
Proper store lambs at Hexham a hell of a trade, some the fat lambs and close to killing lambs looked value. Ours have come home 42-43kg - £104. Got to be money in them you’d think way the trades going.
I saw some absolute rubbish, things that would fit into the Mrs handbag (my Mrs has a cheap handbag) make £78!! They’ll not even be ready in April.
I think on Friday the poorer lambs were the dearest. Yea those good lambs were a good price but you’ll always get out of them. They’ll always be...
Couldn’t comment on lambs in either mart as a seller but all I know is this last three weeks we’ve managed to get lambs out of the tuesday store sale in the west, the local one on Monday but completely failed to get a thing out the one in the middle on a Friday which has 5000 entered most weeks...
They don’t seem to get anywhere near the numbers as they used to, both Tuesday or Thursday.
Archie doing them a lot of harm apparently. Pulling a lot of his old customers up to Lanark.
We’ve friends local to Longtown that won’t go there anymore and head up to Lanark.
We used to take ewes...
Woolers been well above the national averages this season to be fair to them. They’ve been having a right good trade for them export lambs as they’ve had Vivers coming.
A to be fair to Scots Gap, we’ve taken a handful of heavy lambs there and they’ve been a right trade. JC buys bugger all now a...
One the local markets -20p down. Tried to book some mules to go dead and they won’t even quote me a price this afternoon for next week.
The 510/kg definitely won’t be happening he says.
He said they’ve came a lot cheaper in Hereford towards the end of the sale as well.
And selling direct isn’t??!
You obviously don’t remember foot and mouth.
There’s a place for everything, both dead and live weight selling. Can you imagine the state we’d be in if there was no live markets?!!
I guess you put all your ewes and cull animals dead weight as well do you?
Held at Hexham now. Middle of September. Trevor Simpson and Drew Patrick sold them last year. Give them a call they’ll help you. Mind we don’t want too many of you turning up! They’ve been relatively easily bought this last year or so.
I’d complete disagree. Having bought from both, the Gimmer lambs we’ve bought over the years seem to be the old fashioned type from the Tow Law Sale. Out of proper big Swale ewes. Not the fashionable ones like at Lazonby. Hence why we buy more now from Tow Law sale at Hexham.
YES!!!
Firstly the AA breed isn’t allowed any double muscle genes and frowns on any animals like that.
Secondly, they breed Aberdeen Angus’ not Limousins! Two totally different breeds.
Also, Alan likes to make more than that!
You might as well say “ooo those Dexters are trying to be like an...
