A few years ago we sold some 12 month old suckler heifers, the buyer came back to us ,said 1 was in calf, what do we do about it. We gave him his money back plus keep cost. The heifer calved normaly, and made a good suckler cow. Guess it was luck.
High numbers might encourage more folk to join, low numbers the opposite. some folk just can`t break with tradition, £10 hardly going to break the bank.
If there growing fast they`ll be under stress, throw in weaning, housing, change of diet and its a perfect storm. Our heifers have very little pnumonia, its always the bull calves.
