The JD 750a has served us well since our transition to no til. Now in it’s 10th year we’re looking for a change. The 2 front runners are the Avatar and the Horizon dsx; both look very capable drills. Horsch appear to have the greater market share but is it any better? Has anyone had experience...
I have been looking at direct drills for a while now. Specifically looking at the moore unidril, the claydon, the horsch (though ruled that out as they are too expensive and too long in a trailed option) and the weaving (disc or tine). Recently also come across the simtech. We have a mix of...
Is there any data any one has handy or experience that shows how different drilling dates effects blackgrass. Got a bit of medium/heavy ground that I’m leaving as late as a dare 😬😬and I’m thinking this might be late enough.

I wonder if anyone can help . I have a JD 6130R with a 750A drill . The system work until autosteer engages, the hydraulic service to the drill fan drops out momentarily and then comes back to normal . In manual mode there is no problem with hydraulics at all . The same happens when putting...

I’ve got a problem with some spring barley drilled with a 750 into spring wheat stubble on March 30th. The barley has no go in it, it’s all got spindly leaves and no tillers and despite an 85% establishment it still hasn’t covered between the rows after emerging about a month ago. I’m not sure...
Anybody go? The Good, the Bad, the Ugly? Watching the first video on Youtube ground conditions looked testing with wet clay land and the soil pit actually filling with water overnight!!
Interested to hear people who went thoughts?
Cheers
Alistair
We are looking to move down the regen route, mob grazing and no till, we have around 300 acres of arable (decent ground thats been pretty much spring barley and winter wheat for years) that we are looking to direct drill after a cover crop next year, there is another part of the farm that when I...
Hi.
Are the JD 750 discs hardened all the way through and what diameter are they usually when replaced? The reason I ask is my drill discs are unavailable so I need to find a disc about 17" which I can then modify either the disc or hub to fit?

Well seeing as it’s new year and last years thread on this topic ram to 80 pages, thought it time to start a new one for this year’s harvest.
I don’t have a lot of winter corn in but what I have is looking ok. The warm December certainly did no harm. A selection as off today.

With over 60 years of farming, I have seen and been involved with so many changes, as a lad from working with horses and leaving school at 15 to working on my father’s smallholding with only 50 acres and a mix of cropping. The farm began to mechanise and expand, so did my...
I have a cover crop of oats, vetch and bit of radish and mustard. It’s knee high and a lot thicker than I was expecting (even using about 50% of the advised seed rate). General plan was to spray off about now then drill spring beans with a Rapid when conditions allow (probably late March as it’s...
