needing to reduce reliance on rented courts and slats look the most economical option, even uncovered?! in east lothian so straw is at the cheaper end of the scale but still cost.
taking a cue from others with their own threads....and upon a suggestion of a friend whom i keep 'entertained'

I`m not a farmer but have an interest in the industry , most farmers I talk to dont have much time for the NFU so I was wondering what the general consensus was here on TFF .
Thought I'd start a thread for machine tool jobs.
What you've been doing on your lathe, mill or drills, slot cutters and if anyone is lucky enough to have a surface/cylindrical grinder.
Today's job (mine's on the right at the bottom) had to copy this wee shaft for a lads board edger. The...

With Brexit on the horizon, farmers will no doubt be starting to think about how they need to shape their business over the next few years to ensure they can ride the wave of a changing market and the consequential volatility, reduced direct support and a changed regulatory framework to work...

Eh up!
The idea of starting a thread about Holistic management has been on my mind for ages, if I am honest.
Lets start by me putting my cards on the table - I have NO formal training, NO books, and NO interest in starting big wars on which way is best.
I do, however, completely and...
Now is the time for British food and farming to be championed by the British people according to the NFU's newly-elected President Minette Batters.
In her first official speech delivered today (26 Feb), Ms Batters set out her bold and ambitious vision for British food and farming to an audience...
The NFU has successfully challenged Government’s plans to remove the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) support from crop drying and other drying processes, enabling farmers to continue to use most of these practices.
The NFU worked alongside FEC Energy and other trade associations to prevent the...
Mod Note: New thread created by moving some posts.
Haha - every second post on TFF seems to be about problems with townies, cyclists, dog walkers, trespassers etc etc
The further from all that the better I reckon
I couldn't cope with having non farming neighbours . . .
I am unable to find a suitable drawbar type ball trailer coupling.
The short type need at least to fit a jaw 60mm thick.
I put the drawbar upside down or the ifor Williams trailer is too high at the front and all the weight is on the rear axle rather than spread over both axles.
The longer...
