Lathe, mills, drills, slotters, shapers and grinders (not angle grinders)

Thought I'd start a thread for machine tool jobs.
What you've been doing on your lathe, mill or drills, slot cutters and if anyone is lucky enough to have a surface/cylindrical grinder.

Today's job

(mine's on the right at the bottom) had to copy this wee shaft for a lads board edger. The keyway is minced up and the hole's pretty worn.
Can't get the old lathe fast enough to leave a real shiny finish. 600 rpm ain't fast enough!

What have you been up to?

Cant find any on the computer but I should have some on my dropbox. I did get a tour of the Superior engineering shop last week and some of the machines they have there are awesome!! All old school British machines.

I pushed the bearing on to the small diameter behind the gear.. Fraction too large and the bearing runs too tight, got to push it back off and take a tiny bit off.(n),

I got carried away last night and stuck a bid on a cylindrical grinder that's on ebay... Woke up in the middle of the night and cursed myself for being so stupid.:(

Sat down this afternoon and raised my top bid:rolleyes:

I've been building up my kit to tackle a pair of gears for the big drill. £1050 for two gears and a ring nut from the makers was too much.

I love they way your justifying your machine purchases to yourself Davie, but your going to have to start adding a zero to that number, to make yourself feel better! As I fear you are already way over budget on these gears!......

Keep up the good work(y)

You've not seen or heard the mess that the gears in the lathe headstock are in(y)(y)

Top work there @davieh3350 .

Love to see what you guys can do on lathes etc.

I was given a small lathe by a neighbour that was moving. I don't use it much, nor am I very good with it, but it has got me out of a fix a couple of times, doing a bush or the like.

Here she is  loads of bits that I'm not sure what they for yet! But a full set of taps for every imperial thread I'll never need
Not sure if the bits in the last photo are even lathe related but I assumed so.
Also got a milling machine from the same place but I'm fairly sure it's missing some bits(n)
