With the current explosion in fert prices how much N is everyone putting on their Spring barley and wheat and how much do they plan to reduce it to this year?
Spring barley 2020 139kg N/ha
2021 112kg N/ha
wheat 2020 215kg N/ha

Having a nightmare with Spring barley this year with getting our 106 to give a clean sample and don't let any barley go over the tail,we have had all the sieves in every position and wasting a lot of time so thought I'd ask on here for some advice,thanks in advance as always.
I’ve got a drill which will drill seed & fert. Should I drill all the fert In one go it’s what I want to do. They are metered separately but do go in the same place slot. Disc drill any thoughts. Probably going 120kg/n/ha solid fert either 34.5 or 24/8/8/8

This years experiment grew a mix of Barley 150 kg/ha (Westminster) and peas 80 kg/ha (Zero4) as a potential high protein feed for the sheep, worked quite well, need to have a clean seed bed before starting and no sprays that will do both barley and peas, 15 tonne/ha sheep muck pre ploughing...
Wondering if anyone else has had skinning claims on their malting barley contracts in North Scotland? Local merchant I deal with has been taking claims on anything over 4% which I'm really not happy about when the contract they provided me says no claims up to 8%. Any advice on what to do?
