That’s as may be. It doesn’t get over the fact that the consumer is price sensitive and will substitute lamb for cheaper meats if it gets too expensive.
That is what you would think but the reality is different,I think people have so much disposable income these days that they can decide what they want to buy and as has been said before every cookery programme on the telly these days is cooking lamb so it is fashionable and price doesn’t come into it when an item is fashionable.

thats as maybe , lamb is prob the most enviro meat there is , much is grown from grass and other fodder grown outdoors all year , it needs to be marketed as such , General public wouldnt eat most meats if they knew the realities of how its produced , ie pork and chicken even eggs , and how much would you need to be paid to rear beef in the same way as lamb , ie born , raised and killed from grass only outdoors all year .
Thats all before the benefits it brings to various enviro sensitive plant species which inturn provides a benefit to insect life ,
Lamb should always be treated as a premium meat and not get caught up in a race to the industrialised bottom like the rest and all the problems that brings ,
It wasnt so long ago joe public was paying silly money for brands of bottled water ,Im sure they would be happy to buy lamb at any price if they knew all the facts .

Farm input prices are rising all the time.

Lamb prices have NOT kept pace with this, sooner or later there had to be a farmgate price correction upwards!

And beef will have to follow as well sooner or later or else UK supply will reduce dramatically!

Steady on. Curent trade does not mean these prices are here to stay, or that there has been any long term 'correction'.

Go cautious.

Much of current spending is being fueled by cheap lending in my opinion. Household debt is at record levels, and defaults are starting to increase. Any significant interest rate increase could trigger another recession, and by historical standards we are already well overdue one.

Does the sun never shine up there with you:facepalm:
Oh and i predict the world is coming to an end.
I don't know when but it will be.

Of course, I'm the most optimistic person you will ever meet. I firmly believe that every generation has it better than their parents, and remain confident that my lot will live in a more prosperous and affluent society than I have.

They won't be sheep farmers though.

I'm not guessing on the record debts and ever increasing default rates, those are established and accepted facts. I can also say with total certainty that we WILL enter another recession, I just can't predict exactly when.

I am willing to bet it will come within 5 years though, and I'm actually betting my whole business on it.

In my lifetime farming has always thrived in a recession,so bring it on.

Perhaps deciding what you want them to buy and what they can buy isn't on the telly and nor is reality

Steady with this price reporting.
If these lambs get any dearer Beowulf might start keeping sheep;)

If my other half gets her way that's a distinct possibility. Personally I'll treat them as automated lawnmowers I ever take leave of my senses and actually buy some.
