I know it was £470 before but having a 5 in front looks a lot worse.

It's the reason I went for an older car rather than the newer model, i think ours is £265 the newer would be over £500

My 3.2L Ranger is only £220 a year, due to it being a commercial vehicle.
Discos etc are not commercial, and are taxed at the passenger car rate based on emissions.

Tax rates are changing next year for new cars: its all going to be put on the first years VED and subsequent years will be no more than £140/yr, regardless of the engine size. There will be a £310 surcharge for the first 5 years for cars costing more than £40K. So by 2022 you'll be able to buy a 5 yr old top of the range 4x4 with a massive engine and only pay £140/yr in tax..........

Your Ranger may well be classified Commercial - But it has nothing to do with 2wd or 4wd.

mine was around 480 last year.....I just divided it by 360 days and thought £1.30 per day is cheap and better then getting the bus. people with £30 tax are saving £1.22 per day
