No need to defend anything. Like I said he's waiting for more data (he's also reading this thread)

No matter for the farmers affected who are under contract but the processor is not taking the agreed level of pigs (25% down)
Is there no clause in the contract about compensating producers?

thats the 'sweet spot'....claim a 'labour shortage' and force majeure

rather than going along with the 'charade' the nfu should be holding supermarkets 'feet to the fire' to honour the contracts

nfu and brc in bed with one another via rt....whilst ppl go around with rt shirts on 'save our bacon'

The queen Bee ( aka Minette Batters ) as she is known to most senior NFU members these days @honeyend campaigned for and voted to Remain in the EU when the UK voted a few years ago.

A brexiter she certainly is not!
I was more interested in what she said. She was pinning him down, if you watch the full programme, what jobs were supposed to be unskilled. The audience was selected so the majority were pro Brexit, and I think not one voiced any support in BJ, or how they have excluded, 'unskilled' workers.

Fancied a bit of lamb for roast tomorrow, so nipped up to Waitrose. Three joints to choose from. Had a nice bit of shoulder.
Pig meat shelves bulging.
And I have two freezers full of my own pork, hence why I didn't go for their pork.
Could have got some lamb off of a mate, probably.
But he doesn't buy my pork....so stuff him.

With the European pig prices dropping fast too, is it a case also if there being too much pork out there. A typical scenario of farmers expanding rapidly on the back of temporary Chinese increased demand.

We’re 40% self sufficient in pork in the Uk. We had 800,000 sows before F&M / sow stall ban / pig wasting disease. Recently it was 400,000. Goodness knows what it has fallen to now

Why would one feel sympathy for, or help a competitor, who has found a way of undercutting one's market and then found their business model is unsustainable?

Self sufficiency has little importance if we are trading on a world market with no notice taken of farming standards by our government.
Things have got into a very sad state when our government puts more value to the economy and the sustainability of the nation by city types 'shuffling bits of paper around' to generate income than the thing that actually sustains human life - good, wholesome high standard food.

You wouldn't last long on a diet of blue chip gilts or whatever they call them in the 'square mile' - I'll go for the type of gilts that Boris and his brainless chums are happy to have shot on farms and chucked in a skip every time.
