135 battery.

Would a 63ah battery be able start the tractor?
I only use it occasionally
The original is a 643 95ah and is completely dead now but I will soon have a very reasonable 027 to hand.

I would do but the 027 is needed until end of next month and I don't want to melt it!
But I may need the tractor before then.

The amp hour is irrelevant unless you are going to be turning it over for a long time.
What is critical is the discharge rate as that is what is needed to turn the engine over fast.
Provided it does not need a lot of starting the smaller battery should be fine

I was going to say 643 is not too expensive until I looked on eBay
I am able to buy batteries and oil from trade supplier
Big difference

Thanks guys
The pricing is the key issue,as I can replace the 027 much cheaper for the van next payday and use its current one as a hand-me-down on the 135

A while back I changed the tractors fuel filters and it starts on a couple of turns from cold so from what you guys are saying it should suffice.

Certainly better than a 100 quid new battery sat there suphating to death.

The Optimate gadget I used isn't a magic wand as I've discovered.

Yea they dont need a lot of power , my old one on the saw bench (had full engine/ head rebuild so nice and tight ) uses mid sized car batteries from scrap yard , alternator doesnt work but couple mains charges a year keeps it topped up ,

Well the latest is that my van has had a mystery upgrade .It has an E63 rather than the standard 027
Couldn't see the label properly as access is so tight.
It's slightly bigger and so bridges the gap up to the 643 a bit better.
I couldn't resist any longer and tried it.
It cranked well considering the tractors 9 month hibernation not least because it was inadvertently lifting the 3pt linkage at the same time.
The hand me down process has a green light.
Success.
Thanks all
