Thought I would post a few pictures throughout our autumn demo drilling campaign with our Sumo DTS3. Various crops, different types of stubble's and soil conditions and more than likely the odd stone or two.

So here we go with blog one.

Yesterday was set up day, makers, gps offsets all adjusted and optimised, drilling away nicely into a chopped barley stubble

May I hijack your thread?

@Johndeere brought his demo DTS 4 to my farm yesterday to sow osr into chopped barley stubble. It coped well with the raked stubble & straw residues.

May i also hijack the thread slightly. Our new drill turned up yesterday, again thanks to @Johndeere. Hoping to get it working at the beginning of next week. Not such a big tractor as you though @green giant !

Looking well !! My tractor is a little better but is the only one I have at the moment with auto steer, I'm lazy might get swapped onto a 6175R in a few weeks.

Not that keen, I tried for a demo trio a few years back, never heard a thing.

New Sumo 4m G/F DTS & JD 6215R set away the other day.
DAP fert being being applied @60kg/ha and OSR @2.6kg/ha.

I also have had a demo (courtesy of JD) drilling OSR into spring barley stubble (baled) and wheat stubble (chopped). None of it was raked, and we didn't actually believe it would work that well in the chopped wheat stubble due to residue volumes.

I was very impressed indeed. No blockages, and there was a lot of trash to get through. Saying that, the straw chop was good, and it was well spread by the combine.

Assuming it grows...... I will be buying one.

Not that keen, I tried for a demo trio a few years back, never heard a thing.

I find that unless you farm at least 1000 acres you wont get a demo of anything around here.
