Can I disconnect the drive to the front hydraulic pump and run the engine briefly or will bad things happen. I have acquired a strange vibration/drumming noise at low revs and I wanted to rule out the hydraulic circuit. Cheers

Is the drumming noise from the front ? Could be the rubber coupling in the pump driveshaft knackered.

Get hydraulic system tested by john deere as they should pin point fault or faults .

The front connection damper usually chackles and rattles when it is worn out, I wouldn’t say it drums tbh. I lost a clutch disc paddle once, and after the initial bang when it broke free, it definitely drummed and vibrated.

Just want to eliminate the hydraulics as the coupling isn’t very old and it had a new clutch and flywheel 2 years ago. It was on the hedge cutter for a couple of days and when removed it had a really bad vibration in the cab. All hydraulics work fine but I can just feel a light pulsing when touching the hydraulic pipes. I’m sure this is normal but just wanted to eliminate the hydraulics before delving further. At tickover you can feel the cab shake but as the revs increase it goes, although when driving in the road it seams to vibrate the accelerator pedal. I know there is something not quite right. How many hours has it done?? Is the engine oil pressure ok at tickover??

Nearly 23k on the hours, oil pressure about 50psi when warm on tickover. Engine had a refurb a few years ago. Oil pressure builds up instant

Bet it still starts first flick of the starter ?

Superb starter, runs and drives perfect despite the hours, that’s why I’m keen to sort this out and avoid a bigger problem later

Could you destroke the pump to the front, that would avoid disconnecting anything?

Not sure how to destroke it. Not worried about disconnecting it as it’s only a few bolts and slide back, was just worried if it word hurt anything

Normally when you load the hydraulics the damper stops chackling, because it is transmitting some power.

It will take Waaaaaay longer to make a destroking tool than to disconnect the pump drive..
