6 string quadrant bale sledge.

Probably been asked a hundred times, but it would be very handy to have a bale sledge behind our quadrant to put two bales side by side, (or perhaps 4), would save loads of time loading trailers. Is there a commercial sledge available, or has anyone got plans that we could copy?

Paddy Reed does them but they are expensive. Brilliant bits of kit but you can pay a man and loader for a lot of hours for the price

I would have thought you could build one of you have good workshop skills one bale on top of another like the old cooks bale sledges for conventional bales top bale pushed a bar and released them

I’ve used a meija sp? Flintstone. Generally good , will slow u down a bit and go steady and wide on the headlands . Handy bit of kit to half the time stacking in the field

The main reason I sell straw to the man I do is he has a sledge type thing that drops 5 six stringers in one go, he drops on the turning headlands, so no traffic on the field work collecting straw.

Your a very lucky man then. Because a big baler and sledge will take a serious amount of pulling up any slope I think it would add another 100hp and more weight around here. Out of interest how much does he charge for the sledge per bale?

Most baling contractors have 100hp or more than they need anyways [emoji23]
