Really useful day on getting the best out of the drill with lots of useful tips. Good to meet some new folk as well and swap notes. Thanks Simon and I hope the M25 was less traumatic on the way home!

I'm pleased so many of you found it useful and I hope all that all who attended found it worthwhile. It was interesting to find how different groups of people changed the dynamics of each day so that they were all different in their own ways. However a common theme of a quest for more knowledge came from them all. It was nice to get on the hedgecutter today as it was travelling a lot faster than I was on the M25 ( I didn't realise that my sat nav could display speeds in tenths of mph). Some of the things I witnessed on the road would also open your eyes. Can you believe that when two lanes merged, a couple of drivers ( neither would give way) just kept forcing their way into the same gap until their cars were touching each other, all at about 1 mph. However, good company, meeting friends and often a bit of humour made it all worthwhile.

I have been asked to do some more courses. If you are interested in attending one please pm me your details including your real name ( you'd be surprised what confusion it creates ) and your location/address. I am thinking about doing them between mid Nov to end of Feb so if you have a time that you can't attend please let me know. If you have a drill and wish to host a course then please also include that info. If they are as popular as last year I'll try and arrange them around to country in fairly local groups.

We'd like to go on one of your 750a courses, when and where would your jan/Feb courses be?

The truth is that I'm not sure yet about locations. If you PM me whereabouts you are I will try and sort something out. Last year we had 5 different ones, those that came from Ireland and Scotland flew into Gatwick for one at my place. I think we might do something similar but until I get an idea of nos and demand in areas it's difficult to say yet. Already it looks as though there will be one further north and one further west than last year. Please note that when you PM me your details I won't reply until I have a better idea of dates and locations, then I'll try and sort out something that suits you.

At the moment it looks as though there will be at least three courses, one in Cambridge / Suffolk , one on the South Coast ( for those in Sussex and the West Country ) and maybe one in Staffordshire ( for those coming from Yorkshire ) although the last one might need a few more to make the group big enough. If you've pm'ed me about courses you are in the system, when I've finalised the details I'll contact you all individually.

Thanks for a great day yesterday Simon, I found it really worthwhile( yet again) and also thank Mrs Chiles for those fantastic brownies, hope you got home eventually with the problems on the m6 last night

I to would like to thank Simon for yesterday, very worthwhile, and I would also like to thank @parker for hosting the event and letting us greenhorns wander around his very good crops.
As for the m6, the less said the better, even going north it was a car park.

Thanks. I'd also like to thank West Midlands Police. I sat for 4 hours on the M54/M6 junction not moving even a mm. Finally got going just after 11pm. Also hit major roadworks on M25, miles and miles of motorway shut down from 5 lanes to just one with over 3 million cones and a 40 mph speed limit only to see one van working at the end of it. Finally got in at about 2.20 am. However a good group of people and great host made it still worthwhile.

Thanks @parker, and @Simon Chiles for a very informative, facsinating and hospitable day. Certainly thought provoking, might have to do something I've never done before and talk to a JD dealer.

Fortunately I got on the M6 at J13, i'll say no more. Apparently they had a jumper on a bridge!

Fantastic course Simon was quite an eye opener, lots of different ideas, have already listed (in my head) surplus machinery to sell on the way home:scratchhead:! A great day with lovely food, thanks to Parker for showing us his quite enviable crops and hosting the event.

Regards Big Al

Also was home by 7 pm showered changed and down the pub before 9 pm, must have got lucky with the traffic!:)

Fantastic day. Just need to work an inexpensive way to add some weight to the guttler.
Standard closing wheel 7.3kg & guttler 5.3kg.
How much to add, just 2kg to bring up to standard weight or more?

I don't think it's quite that easy, I have a design on the drawing board in my head and just working on the calculations to ascertain the weight. Hopefully have a solution soon.

Maybe, but I don't think it would need to be too complicated a solution. It got me thinking, and I have a couple of ideas but keep us informed of yours.
