Trying some crumbler wheels from BPR. There was no visible difference in soft soil but where the groud was harder and bare, it became obvious.
They're a bit over 5kg each compared to the originals at around 7kg. But the reduced weight makes no difference to how they perform.

Sorry to not have seen this thread sooner, rather than Like each post I thought I'd comment on a cracking job, well done
As you said they should come like this from the shop :) always good to see some innovation and cunning plans, paying off in terms of ease of use and making things better to use.
Particularly like the remote greasing, what a ball ache that can be - even on a smaller rig (y)

Gold star, mate :cool::cool:

Don't suppose you could snare a video of these fancy cog-wheels in action?
Look very interesting indeed, could well imagine they would bite into hardpack and flick a lot over.

Those depth claw plates look mint. I’m wondering if I could get some in nz. Who makes them, edit...
I found the company but there is nothing on their website about the beefed up depth claw and plate.

I have fitted autolube to a 4 meter drill. Dispite having to replace the od fitting I have no regrets. Neither does the main operator .

Have really enjoyed the thread. Thanks for the posts!

Ok. Take 2 on that bloody red sprocket:rolleyes::mad: Had another look this morning after seeing local dealer for a parts breakdown of it. Decided to remove shaft this time. Circlip on each end after you remove drive motor. Next, knock out the agitator pins from tank. Then you will have to remove the green motor mounting plate as it is easier than trying to knock the roll pin out of the larger white cog. Theres 3 bolts to remove the mounting plate. Next you will need to remove the white cog that the red one drives against. Then give shaft a gentle tap and it should pop out. Tap out rollpin from big gear and remove( bearing and seal may have stayed on shaft too...remove these as well).

Now for the fun bit:rolleyes::oops:in a vice, place red gear on top so gear rests on vice jaws with just enough of gear as you need to knock the "back " out of sprocket....be careful as there is a little spring and ball bearing inside. Tap shaft till it pops the back out. Replace sprocket and spring and ball...

Now for the really really fun bit:cautious:. Replacing the back. I tried everything from this
20190306_105708.jpg
which was a dismal failure.... As you can see in the pic of the back above. It is tapered and has to "pop" in. Only way I could get it was place one edge of both sprocket and back in vice and gently close, whilst squeezing top sides with multi grips.
And heres the one that i replaced

Finished fully stripping down seeder in preparation to have greaseless bushes and pins installed in closing wheels , firming wheels and new greaseless spindles and depth arms. Also will be doing main pins and bushes on frame.

gotta say sometimes lucks on your side...... last year I had a disc decide that it didnt like its nuts and bolts and only discovered it when it took the gauge wheel off too......And naturally it was a front one so the rear gang ran over the gauge wheel and destroyed it....... in the process it chewed out the spindle and retaining nut and wore into the gauge wheel shaft. It still functioned so finished the season and did all of this year with it before the dreaded tear down.....Anyway, it came off like a piece of pìss (y)

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
