Thinking aloud
If it was designed to swing fee , will it now have more forces applied, being rigid wrist ??

I had thought I might do that but there’s a clearance issue as you had thought so I could only fit one thickness of 10mm plateOn your last picture here you’ve just a single depth of a collar on top, I’m guessing the pin has a bolt holding it in on the opposite one? I’m just wondering would it be worth adding a bit more to this one too and putting a second bolt through the pin to hold the 2 jaws rigid and remove any possible flex in that jaw? Maybe clearance is an issue though?
That’s a possibility but looking at the weight of metal in it I didn’t think it would have been an issue. But my repair clearly wasn’t strong enough!Thinking aloud

That certainly is a big drilling and tapping job. What did you drill it with? Looking good though. And worth more now than it was!Renault 560 kilo weight carrier drilled and tapped. With my radial arm drill. Some might have seen this on another thread. Gives you a idea of the size of it, that's a axle bolster off a fordson super major. All drilled and tapped on the drill. Ground a triangle onto the shank of a old m16 machine tap, then gripped in the chuck. That certainly is a big drilling and tapping job. What did you drill it with? Looking good though. Can fit a job 6 foot high on the bed. But need step ladders to use it [emoji23]That’s a proper drill. Won’t find many things to bug for that.

How did you make the cat pins? Do you have your own lathe ?Renault 560 kilo weight carrier drilled and tapped. Then mounting plates made up to suit front linkage View attachment 874279View attachment 874280View attachment 874281View attachment 874282
500 amp mig welder, 450 amp stick welder. 3 phase generator. A 6 cylinder fordson major. A new performance super major in on with doing up. And a bale trailer I'm on with atmLook to have some good big tackle in there @Simmy
old pedestal grinder, hydraulic press.
The radial is way bigger than ours at work.
Is the vice from msc industrial. Looks similar to mine.
Anything else of interest.
Haven't picked one up yet. I just use the one at work. How did you make the cat pins? Do you have your own lathe ?
And the vice came with the drill when I bought it so insure. Be better with a proper drill vice but it gets me by for the time beingLook to have some good big tackle in there @Simmy

I trained as a machinist. All manual machining with a little bit of CNC. Done that for 4 year. Got a job at a local paper mill and bio power plant, as a mechanical craftsperson (glorified fitter) [emoji23]. Done 4 year on days. And now I'm a shift fitter looking after the full mill, me and a electrician. Do 12 hour shifts. 5 on 4 off, 5 on 5 off, 4 on 10 off. What’s you day job if you don’t mind me asking
