I’ve got a couple of rams booked in to be slaughtered next week and one of them has now got a bit of fly strike around his horns.

If I give it a good squirt with iodine will he still be allowed to be sent on rather than having to wait for the withdrawal for spot on? If not, I’ll treat him properly and wait.

TIA

There's nil withdrawal on topical iodine, and the head will be skipped anyway.

I would think Iodine a bit severe for broken skin, so better to use an alternative if you can

For goodness sake, don't let it run into their eyes. Neighbour of ours dehorned his calves a few years ago and ran out of AB spray so squirted iodine in the wound which ran into their eyes and blinded several calves. It was a horrible thing to see the calves with white eyes.
