Acid reflux

My family and I have taken a bad cold and it's hitting me in the chest worst. Cause Iv coughed so much now my chest gets really sore and burning. I'm told it's acid reflux. Iv taken gaviscon tried milk, have taken a tablet that's mean to help and all haven't had a affect. It's at point of making me sick. Any tips how I could ease it a little ? I hate hate hate being sick

If you are still coughing treat the cough.

Corvonia Herbal - this one http://www.covonia.co.uk/products/herb-mucus-cough-syrup.html I find particularly good, local pharmacist suggested it, it contains Ipecacuanha this seems to be hard to find in cough syrups now.

You may need ABs for the chest cough so see the doc. Milk won’t help reflux if that’s what you got.

If you do have acid then one shot of gavisxon wont necessarily help as your oesophagus may have been burnt by the acid and will take time to recover. Take the gavisxon as regular as you can according to the label.

You may have caused some reflux though all the coughing so if you cure the cough you cure the acid.

you should go see a gp for accurate diagnosis....i suffer from acid reflux....avoid rich foods and to much bread....tomatos are really bad

not being rude but are you overweight? the minute i put on a little to much wt i get problems

No I'm under weight if anything for my height. Been sick again so that might settle me for while now. Have no they cold symptoms other than a little runny nose and the cough. And just no energy

Mucus from a cold will cause some to be sick.
Go to your local chemist/pharmacy if you dont want to go to a GP.
No one can diagnose without seeing you.

I sent mother to chemist yesterday and there always very helpful. Explained it was in my chest and they said to take Day nurse syrup. Took for days now but took this morning then was sick so haven't took any more all day. Waiting to bed time to take night nurse. If I could sleep for longer than couple hours at time in night I think wouod help heal me

That depends on the apple. Something like a Granny Smith will increase acid levels and I'm speaking as a acid reflux sufferer who has been on medication for 10 years or more.

Sounds like a chest infection.

Does chest infections make u bring stuff up as u cough as I haven't brought anything up at all. Odd time it's bit crackly but that's all

If your crackly in your chest you need to go see the doctor asap. That sounds like a bad dose of bronchitis or a bad chest infection. Either way your doing yourself no favours suffering on.

I had a spell with acid reflux last year & the doctor confirmed it.
Since Christmas I've had a nasty cold with lots of coughing, I've found the best solution to both is sleeping in the chair or sofa so I am more upright.

I heap pillows up behind me in bed to try that. Night nurse usually helps but just wish couod sleep longer at a time
