I have a Hiatus Hernia, discovered after the camera down the throat inspection.Been on Omeprazole since for last two years, no side effects.
Avoid spicy foods and sleep with your head higher than your stomach helps.
How do you feel in a morning because I feel dreadful takes about 2hrs to feel human again.

It might not help some but when I started wearing braces (and trousers with a large enough waist) instead of belts my acid reflux just about disappeared. It's easy not to notice how tight a belt can become as the day goes on and I am sure it has a bad effect.

This helped me more than raising the head of the bed. Sensible portion sizes, and reduced fat helped and not drinking big volumes of liquid with or after meals. Chip shop fish and chips are a non starter now. Coffee, alcohol and all those nice things don't help either, nor do big meals after 1pm. For some reason fruit cake brings it on as well.

My acid reflux was also helped by selling the Track Marshall. Certain tractor seats and tractor designs seem to worsen the condition. My brother can't drive a short nosed tractor for the reason that the "nodding" sets off his reflux.

Hope you find some relief folks.

My entire direct family live on omeprazole for acid.
I decided to try cutting things out. Hence I no longer eat wheat.
I'd rather do that than pop pills daily.

I'm on omprezole fpr a while, got tot the stage lanzoprezole was useless. takes a while in the morn to be normal, odd day wouldn't trust a fart to 10am and I'm up from 5. 12 months ago I was told via blood test I was low in b12, couldn't pay attention for long periods, could count, all the effects of lack of sleep, as I was only sleeping for 1.5 hrs or so at a time, still not good at it. I noticed wheaten bread had bad effects so cut it out, still not good and b12 slightly low, I'm still down on energy and have been given a b12 tablet 3 times a day it does help but the thinking now is that I might have a problem with my intestine and they are going with the camera to find out but I am to remain on the same diet. seems it might be popular when I read all these posts, he suggested a gluten free sort of diet might help after the camera job.

did anyone ever ask where the camera has previously been?

See my previous post on here (I've quoted it below for you). My OH also had low B12 levels and IBS problems similar to yours, they are both common symptoms of SIBO. Unfortunately the NHS won't treat it, try googling SIBO you can spend weeks reading about it. Plenty of quacks out there writing about it too, just to make things even harder to work out.

I hope the doctors get you sorted, if not it is possible to pay for a SIBO test to get a diagnosis, I would suggest you did this anyway, can't do any harm.

My OH was on full rate omeprazole for years, used to swig gaviscon too and still had issues. She went to an NHS specialist who had a look in her stomach with a camera and declared all was fine and just keep on with the meds. He mentioned her stomach was full of polyps, but that was nothing to worry about, a normal side effect of omeprazole!

After visiting a nutritionist and being diagnosed with SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth) and food intolerances, she has been given a diet to follow and is now off all meds. She has to avoid sugars and easily digested carbs, among other things, something a paleo diet probably achieves too.

The sting in the tail with omeprazole is that it works by lowering the stomach pH, which allows undesirable bacteria through and gives you SIBO, if you didn't already have it. SIBO is a major cause of reflux!

Is it possible for the cold that I had back then to still be affecting me? Felt ok for while but last 3 or 4 days have tickle throat and feel sick every single morning again like in another thread of mind :( fed up. As don't like it's anxiety or proper sickness so that's making me worse

Can be quite normal for a bad cold to have, it goes to chest and then doesn't clear out proper, so another strain of it comes round again. Second time round can actually properly clear it out. Plenty of vits, plenty of fluids and rest. Try those echinaecia drops off Amazon "Vogel" I think they're called, will help kick it and help rebuild the immune system too :) if unhappy about it, may be advisable to speak to doctor. All the best x
