AD harvesting costings

Hi - trying to price up harvesting a significant area of maize for AD - currently do dairy spec only- anyone got any info on realistic targets for daily harvesting to 5-7mm chip length and fuel use per tonne or acre? Currently running 8 row 600hp Thanks in advance

What difference is there between dairy and AD maize DM and chop length.

Dairy 10-20mm chip length so two to three times the number of cuts to make extra to get the length down...hence be handy if anyone has any experience!

I chopped grass with a 40knife JD (like a claas 20 knife) at 6mm with 700hp a few seasons ago, sharpening every 30 acre and I still failed to get the fuel under 1litre/tonne.

We do not do any A/D work, But you will need the chop length to be right or you may never get paid for the job
