I've got nearly everything back outside now. It's may only be 10 days but it all helps while straw prices are high and forage stocks are low.

These are the only ones that would normally be out at this time of year but you wouldn't normally be seeing many pictures of them.

Calves loved the hot summer and now dry winter, the complete opposite of the year before Wet summers like 2017 are great for grass growth but i can never get calves to do well and then the 2017 ones had a horrible winter to follow.

Been nice again up here as well.

Keep waiting for winter to arrive.
My volume washer runs off harvested rain water. I was washing my footbath out earlier and it ran dry.
That's the 3rd time this winter, unprecedented.

There's only enough there for 4/5 days. There's a wire over the hay bales which I just move in a bit each day. It works very well (until they knock the wire down and make a horrible mess)

Thanks. They may be mere grass rats but with milk price above 40 since June and above 45 the last 3 months, it doesn't pay to have underfed cows.

Had a dairy inspection last week and today got the results from the sample they took, feeling rather chuffed.
